What a padding mangle does
The cloth goes through a trough of liquor and then between two heavy rollers. The rollers squeeze out the excess and leave a set amount of liquor on the cloth. That amount is the wet pick-up.
Nearly every continuous dyeing range and chemical finishing line starts with a padder. It is also the first stage of cold pad-batch dyeing and pad-dry bleaching.
Padder or squeezer
A padder dips first and then squeezes. A squeezer or water mangle only squeezes out water. The padder's job is to put chemical on evenly. The squeezer's job is to remove water before drying.

Typical process values
Wet pick-up depends on the fibre and the process. For dyeing, cotton is about 55 to 70%, polyester-cotton about 45 to 50%, viscose about 85 to 95%. For finishing, about 55 to 75%.
Roller hardness depends on the cloth. Woven fabric commonly uses rubber at about 70 to 80 Shore, knit fabric about 50 to 60 Shore.

Tell us the lowest wet pick-up you need and the widest fabric. Both set roller size and pressure.
An even squeeze across the full width matters more than top speed. Ask about roller crown and pressure control.
