What the GM38 atmospheric dyeing machine is built for
The GM38 is an atmospheric dyeing machine. It circulates dye liquor with a pump and a double-nozzle design, so fabric moves through the vessel in a loop while liquor flows over it. Published liquor ratio is 1:5.
Atmospheric means the vessel works at normal pressure, so the practical limit is the boiling point of water. That suits cotton and other fibres that dye at or below 100 °C, and it avoids the cost and cycle time of a pressure vessel.
For polyester at 130 °C or higher, use a pressure machine such as the HTHP overflow dyeing machine.

Selection points for the GM38
Temperature need. If every recipe stays at or below 100 °C, an atmospheric machine saves capital cost. Any disperse dyeing of polyester needs pressure.
Liquor ratio. At 1:5, water, steam and chemical use per kilogram drop compared with a high-ratio machine. Check that your pump and nozzle give enough fabric speed to avoid creasing in heavy knits.
Fabric weight. Say what weight range you run. Light jersey and heavy fleece need different nozzle pressure and tube loading.
Batch size. Capacity is set by tube count and size. Give your typical lot size and we match the number of tubes.
Dosing and control. Ask for manual or program control and for automatic dosing if you run shade-critical reactive colours.
Typical applications of the GM38 Atmospheric Dyeing Machine
- Reactive dyeing of cotton knit fabric
- Scouring and bleaching of cotton at atmospheric temperature
- Washing and soaping after dyeing
- Small to medium lots with frequent shade changes
Configuration options
- Program control with temperature and dosing curves (optional)
- Dye addition tank with timed dosing (optional)
- Extra tubes for larger lot sizes (optional)
- Stainless steel grade selection (optional, set per order)
Items marked optional are available on request. The final configuration is confirmed on the quotation.
GM38 Atmospheric Dyeing Machine: frequently asked questions
Can the GM38 dye polyester?
Not with disperse dye at 130 °C. It is an atmospheric machine. For polyester, use the HTHP overflow dyeing machine described on the Runda site.
What does a 1:5 liquor ratio mean?
About 5 litres of liquor for each kilogram of fabric. Lower ratio uses less water and chemicals, and shortens heating time.
Which fabrics suit this machine?
Runda lists cotton and knit fabric. Lighter and mid-weight knits in reactive, direct or vat dyes are the common fit.
What do you need for a quote?
Fabric type and weight, lot size in kilograms, dye class, maximum temperature, control level and destination country.
