Each block shows the cloth, what the machines do to it, and the end products. The pictures are illustrations. Your fabric and recipe decide the final machine choice, so send us the cloth and we will match the line.

APPLICATION

Denim and jeans

Illustration of a roll of indigo denim fabric, folded denim and a finished pair of blue jeans
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye the cloth to an even indigo or other shade on a jigger, a continuous range or a rope line. Pre-shrink it so the cut jeans keep their size after washing. Soften the hand, then dry the cloth without pulling the weave out of shape.
Suitable fabrics
Cotton denim, cotton-polyester and stretch denim, and twill or canvas of similar weight.
End uses
Jeans, jackets, skirts, casual trousers and bags.

APPLICATION

Knit T-shirts and jersey

Illustration of a roll of grey jersey fabric, folded knit cloth and a finished crew-neck T-shirt
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye jersey in a loop so the cloth stays relaxed instead of being pulled flat. Take out surplus water, then dry it on a relax dryer or set the width on a stenter. A softener pass gives the hand that knitwear is bought for.
Suitable fabrics
Cotton and cotton-blend jersey, rib and interlock, and polyester knit.
End uses
T-shirts, polo shirts, sportswear, loungewear and children's wear.

APPLICATION

Underwear and socks

Illustration of a roll of beige knit fabric, folded knit cloth, a bra and briefs set and a stack of socks
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye fine knit fabric, finished garments or yarn to one even shade, then soften and dry it gently. The width is set on a stenter so the cloth cuts and sews to size. Skin-contact goods need a soft, low-tension finish.
Suitable fabrics
Fine cotton knit, modal-type viscose, nylon and elastane blends.
End uses
Bras, briefs, vests, base layers and socks.

APPLICATION

Bedding

Illustration of a roll of white cotton fabric, folded sheets and a made bed with duvet and pillows
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye or bleach the cotton cloth, dry it flat and soften it. Brushed bedding goes through a sueding machine for a fine nap. Pre-shrinking keeps sheets and covers true to size after the first wash.
Suitable fabrics
Cotton percale and sateen, cotton-polyester, brushed cotton and microfibre.
End uses
Sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, quilt shells and blankets.

APPLICATION

Curtains

Illustration of a roll of cream curtain fabric, a hanging fabric panel and pleated curtains at a window
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Set the width and weight of the cloth on a stenter so panels hang straight and join evenly. Coat the back of blackout cloth. Calender the surface where a smooth, flat face is wanted. Dye the base cloth to the shade before any of this.
Suitable fabrics
Polyester and linen-look woven cloth, sheer and voile, and blackout base cloth.
End uses
Curtains, sheers, roller blinds and table linen.

APPLICATION

Sofa and upholstery fabric

Illustration of a roll of teal upholstery fabric, folded cloth, a two-seat sofa and a matching cushion
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye the cloth to a deep, even shade. Set it on a stenter so width and weight stay stable through cutting and sewing. A back coating or a resin finish adds body and helps the fabric hold its shape on the frame.
Suitable fabrics
Woven and knitted upholstery cloth, polyester velvet-type fabric and chenille.
End uses
Sofas, chairs, cushions and headboards.

APPLICATION

Workwear

Illustration of a roll of navy fabric, folded heavy cloth, a work jacket and cargo trousers
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Dye long lots of heavy cloth on a continuous range so the shade runs the same from start to end. Pre-shrink the cloth, and apply a resin finish for crease recovery and a firm hand.
Suitable fabrics
Cotton twill and drill, cotton-polyester blends and canvas.
End uses
Coveralls, uniforms, work jackets and trousers.

APPLICATION

Cotton and linen

Illustration of a roll of natural linen-look fabric, folded cloth, a linen-style shirt and a fringed throw
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Pre-shrink the cloth, soften the hand and dry it in a relaxed state so the natural texture stays. For polyester and blends, alkali reduction gives a softer, more fluid hand. Dyeing on a jigger suits the open-width weave.
Suitable fabrics
Linen, cotton-linen blends, linen-look polyester and blends.
End uses
Shirts, dresses, throws, table linen and light home textiles.

APPLICATION

Faux leather

Illustration of a roll of brown faux leather, folded sheets, a handbag and a biker-style jacket
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Apply the polymer layer to the base cloth on a coating machine and cure it in the oven. The coating line sets the thickness and the surface of the finished sheet. A hot stamping machine can then press a metallic foil pattern onto it.
Suitable fabrics
Knitted and woven base cloth, microfibre base, with a polyurethane or PVC layer.
End uses
Bags, jackets, wallets, shoes and furniture trim.

APPLICATION

Outdoor and waterproof fabric

Illustration of a roll of orange coated fabric, folded sheets, a hooded rain jacket and an open umbrella
Fabric roll, folded cloth and finished goods. Illustration.
What the machines do
Coat one side of the cloth so water runs off instead of soaking in, then dry and cure the coating in a hot-air oven. Seams are taped afterwards in the garment plant.
Suitable fabrics
Nylon and polyester taffeta, ripstop and twill base cloth.
End uses
Shell jackets, umbrellas, tents, rain covers and bags.
